Wednesday, May 13, 2020 – After the successful launch of Believe in Banking in the first week of May just weeks following the Coronavirus outbreak, the platform’s newest multimedia element is making its debut with a mission to facilitate conversations central to overcoming the current crisis and emerging stronger for it. The Believe in Banking Podcast will feature industry experts taking on the financial industry’s most pressing issues with insight and empathy.
Seasoned specialists in financial services consulting, hosts Sean Keathley and Gina Bleedorn have their fingers on the pulse of the issues facing community banks and credit unions through their daily conversations with the banking industry’s leaders. In the podcast, Sean and Gina will feature examples and experts from the financial community and spotlight all the ways the industry is exhibiting its responsiveness and resilience in the face of unprecedented challenges and changes.
Each podcast will feature information and conversations designed to enlighten and empower. Not focused on quick takes, the conversations will help uncover more meaningful actions to support an industry that is a pillar of our society. In the first episode, Sean and Gina discuss the current state of banking in the wake of the Covid-19 crisis. They address how financial institutions are responding to this moment and how they are helping their customers and communities.
In the first episode, Gina says banks are focused on their branches, saying, “Right now they are in a state of partial or complete closure. Some are operating drive-ups only. Some have limited access to in-branch staff via appointments, but all of them know they have to reopen at some point. With state and national governments in varying states of readiness proclamations as to the timing of when that will happen, it is only adding to the uncertainty.”
Despite this rapid and widespread change, financial institutions are rising to the challenge. In the first episode, Sean describes how community banks are helping, saying “The financial community feels a real commitment to the communities they serve, and 100% of the people we’re talking to are really focusing 100% of their efforts in getting these PPP loans to their communities. They are working seven days a week, extended hours, sometimes in 24-hour shifts to connect those people who have been so disrupted by this pandemic.”
